Overview

Inspection reduces risk. It does not eliminate it.

Quality in international sourcing is best protected by a layered system — supplier verification, written specifications, sample approval, pre-shipment inspection, and lab testing where relevant. No single tool is sufficient on its own; together, they significantly reduce the risk of defective, off-spec or short-shipped cargo.

Blueroute Exim coordinates pre-shipment inspection, sample evaluation, lab testing (where required) and loading supervision on behalf of global buyers. We work with international inspection agencies operating in India, with capable Indian agencies, and with NABL-accredited testing laboratories.

Process

The inspection process, step by step

From requirement review to loading supervision — eight coordinated steps that cover the full quality cycle.

01

Requirement review

We review the buyer's specification, AQL levels, packaging and labelling requirements, and prepare a written inspection brief.

02

Supplier shortlisting

We verify the supplier's capability against the specification and confirm the production schedule before inspection is booked.

03

Sample evaluation

For first orders and private-label work, we coordinate samples and evaluate them against the agreed specification before bulk approval.

04

Pre-production check

For larger orders, an optional pre-production check verifies that raw materials and work-in-progress match the approved specification.

05

In-line inspection

An optional mid-production check catches defects early, allowing correction before the entire lot is finished.

06

Pre-shipment inspection

When at least 80% of the order is packed, the inspector visits the supplier's premises for quantity, workmanship, packaging and labelling checks under an AQL sampling plan.

07

Lab testing (if required)

For food, agro, chemicals and certain consumer products, random samples are sent to an accredited lab for chemical, microbial or physical parameter confirmation.

08

Loading supervision

An optional final step — the inspector supervises container stuffing, verifies container condition, seal number and cargo security before dispatch.

Inspection types

Four types of inspection we coordinate

Different shipments need different inspection intensity. We tailor the inspection plan to the product, order size and buyer risk profile.

Pre-shipment inspection

AQL-based visual and dimensional check on packed goods at the supplier's premises, covering quantity, workmanship, packaging, labelling and shipping marks.

Sample evaluation

Independent evaluation of supplier samples against the buyer's specification, with written feedback to the supplier for counter-sample revision.

Lab testing

Coordinated through NABL-accredited, destination-recognised labs. Covers pesticide residues, aflatoxin, microbial, heavy metals, composition and other parameters as required.

Third-party agency

International agencies (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas, TÜV, Cotecna-style) can be arranged. We coordinate with the buyer-nominated agency or suggest one based on product and destination.

What we check

Checklists by product type

Indicative checklists — actual inspection scope is finalised in the inspection brief based on the buyer's specification.

Agro & Food

  • Quantity and net weight verification
  • Packaging and labelling check
  • Shipping marks and batch coding
  • Moisture content (lab)
  • Pesticide residues / MRLs (lab)
  • Aflatoxin (lab, where applicable)
  • Microbial load (lab, where applicable)
  • Heavy metals (lab, where applicable)
  • Phytosanitary compliance

Textiles & Apparel

  • Quantity and size run
  • Fabric defects and shade matching
  • Stitching, seams and workmanship
  • Sizing and measurements
  • Trims, labels, hangtags, barcodes
  • Packaging and carton markings
  • Composition and care labelling
  • Restricted substances (OEKO-TEX, REACH) where required

Leather & Footwear

  • Quantity and size run
  • Leather grade and finish
  • Stitching and bonding
  • Sole attachment and last shape
  • Lining, insole and hardware
  • Private-label branding correctness
  • Packaging and carton markings
  • CE / EN ISO 20345 for safety footwear (where applicable)

Industrial & Engineering

  • Quantity and dimensions
  • Surface finish and tolerances
  • Material grade verification
  • Thread and fitment checks
  • Anti-corrosion packaging
  • Palletisation and strapping
  • Marking and batch coding

Honest limitations

Pre-shipment inspection is a statistical sample, not a 100% check. Some defects can still slip through. Inspection reduces risk but does not guarantee zero defects.

Lab testing is subject to accredited lab availability and turnaround time (typically 5–10 working days). Some destination-specific tests may not be available at all labs.

Final quality and compliance results depend on the supplier, the production lot, the sampling plan, and the lab — none of which can be guaranteed in absolute terms. A layered process is the most reliable way to manage quality risk.
